SageAI tutor Example

AP Microeconomics · Unit 3 · Profit maximisation

At its current output a firm's marginal revenue is $12 and its marginal cost is $9. Should it produce one more unit?

You wrote No, because each unit costs $9 to make. 0 of 2

A cost on its own does not decide it. Compare what the extra unit adds to revenue with what it adds to cost.

Your rewrite Yes. MR ($12) is greater than MC ($9), so one more unit adds $3 to profit. 2 of 2
