A physics tutor: that checks your units

The short answer

Tutix teaches physics live: the AI tutor explains a concept, works the equation with you on a shared whiteboard and reads your calculation as you write it. A ready-made program covers IGCSE Physics, Core and Extended, and any other course can be taught from your own notes.

  • Live, spoken, one-to-one
  • Your working is read while you are in class
  • 1 ready-made program
  • Free plan: 45 live minutes a month

How a physics class works

A Tutix class is a live, spoken lesson one-to-one with an AI tutor. For physics:

  • Concept, then equation. You say what is happening before you reach for a formula.
  • Equation, substitution, answer, unit. The order marks are awarded in, practiced until it is a habit.
  • Graphs and diagrams. Lessons carry the pictures and graphs a course uses, and you are asked what they show.
  • Calculations read line by line, so a slip is found at the step where it happened.

Physics · Forces · Newton's second law

A resultant force of 12 N acts on a 3 kg trolley. What is its acceleration?

You wrote 36 m/s2 0 of 2

F = ma, so a = F ÷ m. Check the units: N divided by kg is m/s2, and multiplying them would give a different unit.

Your rewrite a = 12 ÷ 3 = 4 m/s2 2 of 2

A sample written to show how a class sounds. The scores show how the exam would credit each answer. Not a real learner.

Programs that teach it

Each program is taught unit by unit as 15-minute lessons, at five levels from a quick review to the deepest level.

Every program that teaches physics sits beside the others, to one hours scale, on the Programs page.

What the programs cover

The units of each ready-made physics program, as the course itself divides them.

IGCSE Physics

  • Motion, forces and energy
  • Thermal physics
  • Waves
  • Electricity and magnetism
  • Nuclear physics
  • Space physics

Planned: AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP Physics C: Mechanics and A Level Physics. Until a ready-made program exists you can start a class on any of them from your own notes, and see every program, including those coming soon.

What the tutor watches for

The mistakes below cost marks most often in physics. A tutor that knows them can catch them at the step where they happen.

  • Confusing distance with displacement, or speed with velocity.
  • Reading a graph's height when the question needs its gradient.
  • Multiplying when the equation divides: check the units of the answer.
  • Giving an answer with no unit, or in the wrong one.
  • Saying the temperature keeps rising during a change of state, when the energy is going into changing the state.

What it costs

You can start on the Free plan: 45 live class minutes a month (about one class of the default length), no card needed. Pro is $15 a month for 6 hours of live class time, and Pro+ is $30 for 15 hours.

The hourly figure is the plan's price divided by the live class hours it includes, when you use them all. Live class time is the tutor teaching you; other limits (study items, messages, uploads) are on the pricing page.

Questions people ask

Can an AI tutor teach physics?

Yes for the concepts and calculations a course asks for. It cannot sit beside you at a lab bench, so practical skills need a teacher or a lab.

Which physics courses does Tutix cover?

IGCSE Physics (Core and Extended) is ready-made. A Level Physics is planned, and for any other course you can start a class from your own notes.

Can it help with physics homework?

Yes. It works through the problem with you and asks for your reasoning rather than only giving the answer.

Can I use a calculator?

Yes. Cambridge's IGCSE Physics syllabus allows calculators in all parts of the exam.
