AP Environmental Science · Unit 6 · Energy consumption

A household uses 900 kWh of electricity a month. The power plant releases 0.5 kg of CO2 for each kWh. How many kg of CO2 is that a month?

You wrote 900 ÷ 0.5 = 1,800 kg 1 of 2

Write the units: 0.5 is kg per kWh, and you want kg. Which operation cancels the kWh?

Your rewrite 900 kWh × 0.5 kg/kWh = 450 kg 2 of 2

A sample written to show how a class sounds. The scores show how the exam would credit each answer. Not a real learner.
