The nine questions
| Ask | Why it matters | How Tutix answers |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Does it teach, or only answer? | A tool that gives answers makes homework easier and tests harder. Research found an unguarded chatbot lowered later exam scores. | A class follows a plan, asks you to answer and explains mistakes. Homework hints are built to point the way, not to give the answer away. |
| 2. Does it read what I wrote? | Feedback on your own work is where learning happens. | The tutor reads your answer in class, tells you what is missing and asks you to rewrite it. |
| 3. Does it remember? | Without memory every session restarts from nothing. | Each class is recorded as covered or not covered and the next is planned from it. You can export or delete your data from Account Settings. |
| 4. Does it follow my syllabus? | Method and vocabulary differ between boards. | Ready-made AP and IGCSE programs, unit by unit; any other syllabus from your own notes. |
| 5. Can a parent see what happened? | A parent can only help with what they can see. | An email-verified invite, a recap after each class and a weekly update, with no shared login. |
| 6. What happens to my data? | A teenager's study history is personal. | Not sold, not used to train outside AI models, microphone only, and you can delete it. See the privacy policy. |
| 7. What does it cost, and what are the limits? | A cheap plan with hidden limits is not cheap. | Free plan with 45 live minutes; Pro $15 and Pro+ $30 a month; limits are listed on the pricing page. |
| 8. Can I try it free? | You should not pay before you have felt a class. | Yes: the Free plan needs no card. |
| 9. What happens when it is wrong? | Every AI makes mistakes. | It can be wrong, so check key facts. The ready-made programs use lessons reviewed in advance. |
Red flags
- It gives a finished answer before you have tried.
- No way to see what was covered, and no record for a parent.
- No clear statement about age, data and what is used to train models.
- No free try, or a free try that needs a card and a hard-to-find cancellation.
- It claims results it cannot show.
A good first test
Pick a topic you find hard. Take one class. A week later, try a similar question with no help. If you could do it, the tutor taught you something; if you could only do it with the tutor, it was doing the work.
Questions people ask
What makes a good AI tutor?
It teaches rather than answers: it follows a plan, asks you to answer, reads your work, remembers earlier classes and follows the syllabus or notes you give it.
How do I know an AI tutor is safe for a teenager?
Check the age rules, whether student data is sold or used to train models, whether a parent can see what happened without sharing a login, and whether you can delete the data.
Should I pay for an AI tutor?
Try one free first. Take a class on a topic you find hard, then try a similar question a week later without help.
Is an AI tutor better than a chatbot?
For learning, usually yes: a tutor follows a plan, reads your work and remembers, where a chatbot answers and waits.
How do I compare AI tutors?
Use the nine questions above with the same topic for each, and compare cost per hour of live teaching, not only the monthly price.
