Homework help: that gets you doing the next one yourself

Updated · How we check our pages

Taught by Echo, The Socratic Guide “Come with a question. We'll find the answer together.”

The short answer

Tutix is built to teach rather than to hand over answers. You bring a homework question to a live class and the AI tutor works through it with you on a shared whiteboard: it asks for your next step, checks it and explains where it went wrong, so you can do the next question on your own.

  • Type it, write it on the whiteboard or open the worksheet in class
  • The tutor works through it with you instead of only handing over the answer
  • Reads your working while you are still in the room
  • Homework your tutor sets comes with hints that point the way, not the answer
  • Free plan: 45 live minutes a month

How homework help works on Tutix

  1. Bring the question. Type it, write it on the whiteboard, or open the worksheet or a page of your document in class.
  2. Try the first step yourself. The tutor asks what you would do next and what you notice; how much it explains first depends on the tutor you chose.
  3. Get feedback on what you wrote. It points to the step that went wrong and why, not just that the final answer is wrong.
  4. Try again, then a new one. You rewrite, and the tutor gives you a similar question to check that it stuck.

Solve 3x − 7 = 11.

You wrote x = 4 0 of 2

Check it first. Put x = 4 back in: what does 3 × 4 − 7 give? Then look at what you did with the 7. To undo a subtraction, what do you do?

Your rewrite 3x = 11 + 7 = 18, so x = 6 2 of 2

A sample written to show how a class sounds. The scores show how the exam would credit each answer. Not a real learner.

Homework help that is the opposite of copying

A tool that gives the answer to every question makes tonight's homework easier and tomorrow's test harder. Tutix's tutors are built around the other loop: you do the thinking and the tutor does the noticing. If you want the questions led by questions, choose Echo, the Socratic tutor, who guides you with questions instead of giving the answer.

On homework your tutor sets after a class, you can ask for hints: a nudge, then a pointer, then the first step. Hints are built to point the way, not to hand over the answer.

What to look for in homework help

  • It asks before it tells. Good help starts with your attempt.
  • It explains the mistake. You should leave knowing why the step was wrong.
  • It follows your course. Help that knows your syllabus uses the right method and the right words.
  • It leaves a record. A parent or teacher can see what you worked on.

A note on school rules

Your school decides what help is allowed on graded work. Use Tutix to learn how to do the work; check with your teacher before using any help on an assessment that counts toward a grade.

Questions people ask

Will Tutix do my homework for me?

Tutix is built to teach you to do it, not to hand over answers. The tutor asks for your next step, checks it and explains mistakes. If you only want answers without learning, a classroom tutor is not the right tool.

What subjects can I get homework help with?

Any subject you can describe. Tutix has ready-made programs for seven AP courses and five Cambridge IGCSE courses, and the tutor can teach anything else from your syllabus, notes or worksheets.

Can I upload my worksheet?

Yes. You can open a worksheet or a page of a document in class, or write the question on the whiteboard, and the tutor works on it with you.

Is homework help allowed by my school?

That is your school's decision. Use the tutor to learn how to do the work, and ask your teacher whether outside help is allowed on any assessed piece.

Is it free?

You can start free: the Free plan includes 45 live class minutes a month, about one class of the default length, with no card.

What age is it for?

Tutix is for students aged 13 and over. A parent can set up and follow a child's classes.
