How a statistics class works
A Tutix class is a live, spoken lesson one-to-one with an AI tutor. For statistics:
- Say it in context. A statistics answer is a sentence about the data, so the tutor asks for it, not just a number.
- Conditions before conclusions. You check the conditions for a method before you use it.
- Interpret, do not just compute. What does the interval, the slope or the p-value mean for this situation?
- Free-response practice, read as you write, with the recap naming the kind of question you struggled with.
Statistics · Describing distributions · Skew
A data set has mean 52 and median 47. In which direction is it skewed?
Skew follows the longer tail, and the mean is pulled toward it. A mean above the median is being dragged up. Which side is that tail on?
A sample written to show how a class sounds. The scores show how the exam would credit each answer. Not a real learner.
Programs that teach it
Each program is taught unit by unit as 15-minute lessons, at five levels from a quick review to the deepest level.
| Program | Curriculum | Units | Topics | Standard (hours) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AP Statistics | AP | 5 | 55 | 25.5 |
Every program that teaches statistics sits beside the others, to one hours scale, on the Programs page.
What the programs cover
The units of each ready-made statistics program, as the course itself divides them.
AP Statistics
- Exploring One-Variable Data and Collecting Data
- Probability, Random Variables, and Probability Distributions
- Inference for Categorical Data: Proportions
- Inference for Quantitative Data: Means
- Regression Analysis
Planned: A Level Mathematics (Probability & Statistics papers). Until a ready-made program exists you can start a class on any of them from your own notes, and see every program, including those coming soon.
What the tutor watches for
The mistakes below cost marks most often in statistics. A tutor that knows them can catch them at the step where they happen.
- Reading a confidence level as the probability that this one interval holds the true value; it describes the method.
- Deciding skew from the mean alone: skew follows the longer tail, and a mean above the median is dragged up by it.
- Concluding that association means one variable causes the other.
- Giving a numeric answer with no sentence about the context.
- Using an inference method without checking its conditions.
What it costs
You can start on the Free plan: 45 live class minutes a month (about one class of the default length), no card needed. Pro is $15 a month for 6 hours of live class time, and Pro+ is $30 for 15 hours.
| Plan | Price | Live class time a month | Works out to | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 45 min | about one class | No card needed |
| Pro | $15 a month | 360 min (6 hours) | $2.50 an hour | $150 a year if paid yearly |
| Pro+ | $30 a month | 900 min (15 hours) | $2 an hour | $300 a year if paid yearly |
| Pico | No monthly fee | Pay as you go | $3 an hour ($0.05 a minute) | Paid from a wallet you top up |
The hourly figure is the plan's price divided by the live class hours it includes, when you use them all. Live class time is the tutor teaching you; other limits (study items, messages, uploads) are on the pricing page.
Questions people ask
Can an AI tutor teach statistics?
Yes. The tutor explains each idea, works a data example with you and reads your written interpretation, which is the part that is hard to check without feedback.
Does Tutix have an AP Statistics program?
Yes: a ready-made AP Statistics program, taught from its published course description.
Can it help with statistics for another course?
Yes. Start a class, name the course and the topics, and the tutor builds classes around them.
Do I need a graphing calculator?
AP Statistics expects a graphing calculator with statistical capabilities. Your own course will say what it expects.
