## Where Tutix is today

A ready-made AP Psychology program is planned and not available yet. You can start a AP Psychology class now: the tutor teaches live from your syllabus or notes. Ready-made programs exist for other courses.

## How the 2027 exam is built

AP Psychology is sat on Friday, May 14, 2027 (afternoon session). The exam is 2 hours 40 minutes long: a multiple-choice section of 75 questions in 90 minutes, then the written section. The College Board's pages do not mention calculators for this exam. Delivery: fully digital.

| Exam section | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Multiple choice | 75 questions · 90 min · 67% of the score |
| Free response | 2 questions · 70 min · 33% of the score |

## What the written questions ask

- Two questions. The Article Analysis Question gives you one summarized peer-reviewed source and up to 7 points over six parts. The Evidence-Based Question gives you three summarized sources on one topic and up to 7 points over three parts.

## What it covers

| Unit | Share of the multiple-choice section |
| --- | --- |
| 1 Biological Bases of Behavior | 15 to 25% |
| 2 Cognition | 15 to 25% |
| 3 Development and Learning | 15 to 25% |
| 4 Social Psychology and Personality | 15 to 25% |
| 5 Mental and Physical Health | 15 to 25% |

## How students have scored, 2021 to 2026

How students scored in 2026 (share of students at each AP score):

| Score | Share of students |
| --- | --- |
| 5 | 15% |
| 4 | 35% |
| 3 | 24% |
| 2 | 18% |
| 1 | 8% |

The share of students scoring 3 or higher on AP Psychology was 53.3% in 2021 and 74% in 2026. The College Board reviews each exam's score standards every five to ten years, so a change from one year to the next can reflect a new standard as well as how students did. AP pass rates for every exam shows the whole table.

| Year | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 or higher | Students | Mean score |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2026 | 15% | 35% | 24% | 18% | 8% | 74% | n/a | n/a |
| 2025 | 14.4% | 30.9% | 25.2% | 19.7% | 9.8% | 70.5% | 334,038 | 3.20 |
| 2024 | 19.2% | 23.1% | 19.5% | 11.8% | 26.5% | 61.7% | 320,164 | 2.97 |
| 2023 | 16.9% | 23.2% | 19.5% | 12.4% | 28.0% | 59.6% | 321,329 | 2.89 |
| 2022 | 17.0% | 22.2% | 19.1% | 13.1% | 28.5% | 58.3% | 292,501 | 2.86 |
| 2021 | 14.1% | 21.2% | 18.0% | 15.2% | 31.5% | 53.3% | 288,511 | 2.71 |

The College Board describes a 5 as extremely well qualified and a 3 as qualified, and says many US colleges grant credit or placement for a 3 or above, but each college makes its own decisions: check the policies of the colleges you care about.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

Type AP Psychology in the class wizard, attach your own notes or syllabus if you have them, choose a tutor and join: the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and reads what you write while you are still in class.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Unit 3 · Classical conditioning.** Question: A child learns to fear a white rabbit after it is shown together with a loud noise. Identify the conditioned stimulus.
> The student wrote: The loud noise. (the exam would credit 0 of 1)
> The tutor: The loud noise made the child afraid before any learning, so it is the unconditioned stimulus. Which stimulus started out neutral and gained its meaning from the pairing?
> The student then wrote: The white rabbit: it was neutral at first and became linked with the fear the noise caused. (the exam would credit 1 of 1)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write an essay, a response or any work you submit for credit. It explains the ideas and what a strong answer needs, so the work stays yours.

## What a ready-made program adds, and what it costs

Ready-made programs, such as AP Calculus AB, come with lessons and questions reviewed in advance, at five levels. The Free plan includes 45 live class minutes a month with no card; see the plans.

The twelve ready-made programs are drawn to scale, with a real lesson to read, on the Programs page.
