## Where Tutix is today

A ready-made AP Microeconomics program is planned and not available yet. You can start a AP Microeconomics class now: the tutor teaches live from your syllabus or notes. Ready-made programs exist for other courses.

## How the 2027 exam is built

AP Microeconomics is sat on Tuesday, May 4, 2027 (afternoon session). The exam is 2 hours 10 minutes long: a multiple-choice section of 60 questions in 70 minutes, then the written section. Calculators are permitted. Delivery: multiple choice on a device, free response in a handwritten booklet.

| Exam section | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Multiple choice | 60 questions · 70 min · 67% of the score; Calculator allowed |
| Free response, with a 10-minute reading period | 3 questions · 60 min · 33% of the score; Calculator allowed |

## What the written questions ask

- Three questions: one long question that counts for half of the section and two short questions that each count for a quarter of it.

## What it covers

| Unit | Share of the multiple-choice section |
| --- | --- |
| 1 Basic Economic Concepts | 12 to 15% |
| 2 Supply and Demand | 20 to 25% |
| 3 Production, Cost, and the Perfect Competition Model | 22 to 25% |
| 4 Imperfect Competition | 15 to 22% |
| 5 Factor Markets | 10 to 13% |
| 6 Market Failure and the Role of Government | 8 to 13% |

## How students have scored, 2021 to 2026

How students scored in 2026 (share of students at each AP score):

| Score | Share of students |
| --- | --- |
| 5 | 19% |
| 4 | 26% |
| 3 | 23% |
| 2 | 20% |
| 1 | 12% |

The share of students scoring 3 or higher on AP Microeconomics was 59.1% in 2021 and 68% in 2026. The College Board reviews each exam's score standards every five to ten years, so a change from one year to the next can reflect a new standard as well as how students did. AP pass rates for every exam shows the whole table.

| Year | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 or higher | Students | Mean score |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2026 | 19% | 26% | 23% | 20% | 12% | 68% | n/a | n/a |
| 2025 | 21.6% | 24.0% | 22.6% | 20.3% | 11.5% | 68.2% | 117,548 | 3.24 |
| 2024 | 22.9% | 23.9% | 20.8% | 19.2% | 13.2% | 67.6% | 103,809 | 3.24 |
| 2023 | 21.3% | 26.0% | 20.6% | 19.9% | 12.1% | 68.0% | 94,772 | 3.25 |
| 2022 | 17.7% | 22.5% | 18.8% | 16.9% | 24.2% | 59.0% | 84,386 | 2.93 |
| 2021 | 18.5% | 24.0% | 16.6% | 17.0% | 23.9% | 59.1% | 80,199 | 2.96 |

The College Board describes a 5 as extremely well qualified and a 3 as qualified, and says many US colleges grant credit or placement for a 3 or above, but each college makes its own decisions: check the policies of the colleges you care about.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

Type AP Microeconomics in the class wizard, attach your own notes or syllabus if you have them, choose a tutor and join: the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and reads what you write while you are still in class.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Unit 3 · Profit maximisation.** Question: At its current output a firm's marginal revenue is $12 and its marginal cost is $9. Should it produce one more unit?
> The student wrote: No, because each unit costs $9 to make. (the exam would credit 0 of 2)
> The tutor: A cost on its own does not decide it. Compare what the extra unit adds to revenue with what it adds to cost.
> The student then wrote: Yes. MR ($12) is greater than MC ($9), so one more unit adds $3 to profit. (the exam would credit 2 of 2)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write an essay, a response or any work you submit for credit. It explains the ideas and what a strong answer needs, so the work stays yours.

## What a ready-made program adds, and what it costs

Ready-made programs, such as AP Calculus AB, come with lessons and questions reviewed in advance, at five levels. The Free plan includes 45 live class minutes a month with no card; see the plans.

The twelve ready-made programs are drawn to scale, with a real lesson to read, on the Programs page.
