## Where Tutix is today

A ready-made AP Macroeconomics program is planned and not available yet. You can start a AP Macroeconomics class now: the tutor teaches live from your syllabus or notes. Ready-made programs exist for other courses.

## How the 2027 exam is built

AP Macroeconomics is sat on Friday, May 7, 2027 (afternoon session). The exam is 2 hours 10 minutes long: a multiple-choice section of 60 questions in 70 minutes, then the written section. Calculators are permitted. Delivery: multiple choice on a device, free response in a handwritten booklet.

| Exam section | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Multiple choice | 60 questions · 70 min · 67% of the score; Calculator allowed |
| Free response, with a 10-minute reading period | 3 questions · 60 min · 33% of the score; Calculator allowed |

## What the written questions ask

- Three questions: one long question that counts for half of the section and two short questions that each count for a quarter of it.

## What it covers

| Unit | Share of the multiple-choice section |
| --- | --- |
| 1 Basic Economic Concepts | 5 to 10% |
| 2 Economic Indicators and the Business Cycle | 12 to 17% |
| 3 National Income and Price Determination | 17 to 27% |
| 4 Financial Sector | 18 to 23% |
| 5 Long-Run Consequences of Stabilization Policies | 20 to 30% |
| 6 Open Economy: International Trade and Finance | 10 to 13% |

## How students have scored, 2021 to 2026

How students scored in 2026 (share of students at each AP score):

| Score | Share of students |
| --- | --- |
| 5 | 19% |
| 4 | 22% |
| 3 | 25% |
| 2 | 20% |
| 1 | 14% |

The share of students scoring 3 or higher on AP Macroeconomics was 51.3% in 2021 and 66% in 2026. The College Board reviews each exam's score standards every five to ten years, so a change from one year to the next can reflect a new standard as well as how students did. AP pass rates for every exam shows the whole table.

| Year | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 or higher | Students | Mean score |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2026 | 19% | 22% | 25% | 20% | 14% | 66% | n/a | n/a |
| 2025 | 20.4% | 22.9% | 24.0% | 21.4% | 11.3% | 67.3% | 176,356 | 3.20 |
| 2024 | 20.7% | 20.7% | 23.8% | 20.8% | 14.1% | 65.1% | 160,741 | 3.13 |
| 2023 | 17.1% | 22.9% | 24.7% | 21.6% | 13.7% | 64.7% | 144,836 | 3.08 |
| 2022 | 16.4% | 20.0% | 15.4% | 15.1% | 33.1% | 51.8% | 134,413 | 2.71 |
| 2021 | 18.0% | 19.6% | 13.7% | 15.7% | 32.9% | 51.3% | 124,436 | 2.74 |

The College Board describes a 5 as extremely well qualified and a 3 as qualified, and says many US colleges grant credit or placement for a 3 or above, but each college makes its own decisions: check the policies of the colleges you care about.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

Type AP Macroeconomics in the class wizard, attach your own notes or syllabus if you have them, choose a tutor and join: the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and reads what you write while you are still in class.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Unit 2 · Real and nominal GDP.** Question: Nominal GDP is $2,200 billion and the GDP deflator is 110. What is real GDP?
> The student wrote: 2,200 × 1.10 = $2,420 billion (the exam would credit 1 of 2)
> The tutor: The deflator of 110 means prices are 10% above the base year, so you must take that inflation out of nominal GDP. Does removing a price rise mean multiplying or dividing?
> The student then wrote: Real GDP = 2,200 ÷ 1.10 = $2,000 billion (the exam would credit 2 of 2)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write an essay, a response or any work you submit for credit. It explains the ideas and what a strong answer needs, so the work stays yours.

## What a ready-made program adds, and what it costs

The twelve ready-made programs are drawn to scale, with a real lesson to read, on the Programs page.
