## Where Tutix is today

A ready-made AP Environmental Science program is planned and not available yet. You can start a AP Environmental Science class now: the tutor teaches live from your syllabus or notes. Ready-made programs exist for other courses.

## How the 2027 exam is built

AP Environmental Science is sat on Thursday, May 13, 2027 (afternoon session). The exam is 2 hours 40 minutes long: a multiple-choice section of 80 questions in 90 minutes, then the written section. Calculators are permitted. Delivery: fully digital.

| Exam section | Detail |
| --- | --- |
| Multiple choice | 80 questions · 90 min · 60% of the score; Calculator allowed |
| Free response | 3 questions · 70 min · 40% of the score; Calculator allowed |

## What changed for 2027

The 2026 to 2027 course description has minor wording clarifications to one learning objective, some essential knowledge statements and some free-response questions. The College Board says the course content does not change.

## What the written questions ask

- Three questions: design an investigation from a scenario and a model or visual; analyze and interpret quantitative data in a table, chart or graph; and use calculations to analyze an environmental problem.

## What it covers

| Unit | Share of the multiple-choice section |
| --- | --- |
| 1 The Living World: Ecosystems | 6 to 8% |
| 2 The Living World: Biodiversity | 6 to 8% |
| 3 Populations | 10 to 15% |
| 4 Earth Systems and Resources | 10 to 15% |
| 5 Land and Water Use | 10 to 15% |
| 6 Energy Resources and Consumption | 10 to 15% |
| 7 Atmospheric Pollution | 7 to 10% |
| 8 Aquatic and Terrestrial Pollution | 7 to 10% |
| 9 Global Change | 15 to 20% |

## How students have scored, 2021 to 2026

How students scored in 2026 (share of students at each AP score):

| Score | Share of students |
| --- | --- |
| 5 | 13% |
| 4 | 29% |
| 3 | 27% |
| 2 | 15% |
| 1 | 16% |

The share of students scoring 3 or higher on AP Environmental Science was 50.4% in 2021 and 69% in 2026. The College Board reviews each exam's score standards every five to ten years, so a change from one year to the next can reflect a new standard as well as how students did. AP pass rates for every exam shows the whole table.

| Year | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 or higher | Students | Mean score |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 2026 | 13% | 29% | 27% | 15% | 16% | 69% | n/a | n/a |
| 2025 | 12.6% | 27.8% | 28.8% | 15.0% | 15.8% | 69.2% | 245,371 | 3.06 |
| 2024 | 9.2% | 27.5% | 17.4% | 25.8% | 20.1% | 54.1% | 236,579 | 2.80 |
| 2023 | 8.3% | 28.4% | 17.0% | 26.4% | 19.9% | 53.7% | 209,757 | 2.79 |
| 2022 | 8.9% | 27.4% | 17.5% | 25.9% | 20.3% | 53.8% | 179,957 | 2.79 |
| 2021 | 7.0% | 24.9% | 18.5% | 27.6% | 22.1% | 50.4% | 149,106 | 2.67 |

The College Board describes a 5 as extremely well qualified and a 3 as qualified, and says many US colleges grant credit or placement for a 3 or above, but each college makes its own decisions: check the policies of the colleges you care about.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

Type AP Environmental Science in the class wizard, attach your own notes or syllabus if you have them, choose a tutor and join: the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and reads what you write while you are still in class.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Unit 6 · Energy consumption.** Question: A household uses 900 kWh of electricity a month. The power plant releases 0.5 kg of CO_2 for each kWh. How many kg of CO_2 is that a month?
> The student wrote: 900 ÷ 0.5 = 1,800 kg (the exam would credit 1 of 2)
> The tutor: Write the units: 0.5 is kg per kWh, and you want kg. Which operation cancels the kWh?
> The student then wrote: 900 kWh × 0.5 kg/kWh = 450 kg (the exam would credit 2 of 2)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write an essay, a response or any work you submit for credit. It explains the ideas and what a strong answer needs, so the work stays yours.

## What a ready-made program adds, and what it costs

Ready-made programs, such as AP Calculus AB, come with lessons and questions reviewed in advance, at five levels. The Free plan includes 45 live class minutes a month with no card; see the plans.

The twelve ready-made programs are drawn to scale, with a real lesson to read, on the Programs page.
