## Where Tutix is today

A ready-made A Level Economics program is planned and not available yet. You can start a A Level Economics class now: the tutor teaches live from your syllabus or notes. Ready-made programs exist for other courses.

## The qualification

Cambridge International AS & A Level Economics is syllabus 9708. The syllabus for exams in 2026 to 2028 is the 2026-2028 syllabus (version 2). Exams are in the June and November series, and in March for centres in India. AS candidates are eligible for grades a to e (in lower case) and A Level candidates for A* to E.

## The papers

| Paper | Title | Time | Marks | AS share | A Level share |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | AS multiple choice | 1 h | 30 | 33% | 17% |
| 2 | AS data response and essays | 2 h | 60 | 67% | 33% |

## What the marks test

At both AS and A Level, Cambridge gives 35% to knowledge and understanding, 40% to analysis and 25% to evaluation. Cambridge calls these weightings approximate.

| Assessment objective | AS Level | A Level |
| --- | --- | --- |
| AO1 Knowledge and understanding | 35% | 35% |
| AO2 Analysis | 40% | 40% |
| AO3 Evaluation | 25% | 25% |

| Assessment objective | Paper 1 | Paper 2 | Paper 3 | Paper 4 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| AO1 Knowledge and understanding | 47% | 33% | 47% | 33% |
| AO2 Analysis | 40% | 37% | 40% | 37% |
| AO3 Evaluation | 13% | 30% | 13% | 30% |

## What it covers

Microeconomics covers how markets work, elasticity, market failure and government intervention. Macroeconomics covers national output, inflation, unemployment and policy. The A Level adds more depth on both, with international trade and development.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

Type A Level Economics in the class wizard, attach your own notes or syllabus if you have them, choose a tutor and join: the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and reads what you write while you are still in class.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Markets · Price elasticity of demand.** Question: A firm raises its price by 10% and the quantity demanded falls by 5%. Calculate the price elasticity of demand.
> The student wrote: 10 ÷ 5 = 2 (the exam would credit 0 of 2)
> The tutor: Elasticity measures how much quantity responds to price, so the change in quantity goes on top. Also, a fall in quantity gives a negative sign.
> The student then wrote: PED = −5% ÷ 10% = −0.5, so demand is price inelastic. (the exam would credit 2 of 2)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write coursework, practical write-ups or any work you hand in as your own. It helps you understand the topic and what a strong answer needs, so the work stays yours.

## What a ready-made program adds, and what it costs

Ready-made programs, such as IGCSE Physics, come with lessons and questions reviewed in advance, at five levels. The Free plan includes 45 live class minutes a month with no card; see the plans.

The twelve ready-made programs are drawn to scale, with a real lesson to read, on the Programs page.
