**The short answer.** Online tutoring is one-to-one teaching over the internet. With Tutix the tutor is an AI that is ready whenever you are: a live class on a shared whiteboard, a recap afterwards and a plan for next time. Students from 13 up can start free, and parents can follow along.

- One-to-one, live, by voice
- No diary to match: book a weekly slot or start a class any time
- A browser and a microphone, nothing to install, no camera
- A recap after each class, for you and, if you choose, a parent
- Free plan: 45 live minutes a month

## What online tutoring is

In online tutoring a tutor teaches you over a video or voice link instead of across a table. There are three common ways to get it. You can hire an individual tutor on a marketplace, book one through an agency or tutoring center, or use an AI tutor. They differ in who teaches you, when, and what that costs.

| At a glance | A tutor from a marketplace | A tutor from an agency or center | An AI tutor (Tutix) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Who teaches | An individual you choose | A tutor the agency assigns | An AI tutor you choose from seven personalities |
| When | When you and the tutor are both free | At the center's or agency's slots | Any time: weekly slot or start now |
| Strength | Human judgment and encouragement | Structure and a named person to call | Availability, patience and unlimited practice |
| Limit | Cost per hour, and scheduling | Cost, travel or fixed times | It is an AI, not a person |

## A week of online tutoring with Tutix

A class can be as short as 15 minutes or as long as 2 hours, in 15-minute steps, and you choose how it repeats.

- A fixed weekly time. The tutor reminds you before each class, and the lesson is prepared before it.
- Week by week. You set the times for each week, which suits a timetable that changes.
- Whenever you like. No schedule at all: start a class when you are ready and the tutor builds it from where you left off.

Miss a class and nothing is lost: the plan waits exactly where you left it, and the tutor can offer up to three make-up times in the following week.

1. Choose what to study. Pick a ready-made AP or IGCSE program, or tell the tutor your subject and upload your syllabus or your own notes.
2. Pick a tutor and a rhythm. Seven tutor personalities, from a calm step-by-step strategist to a Socratic guide. Book a fixed weekly time, set each week fresh, or start a class whenever you like.
3. Join the class. You need a browser and a microphone. Nobody is on camera. The tutor speaks, teaches on a shared whiteboard and slides, and asks you to answer as you go.
4. Get feedback on your work. The tutor reads what you write while you are still in class and points out what is missing.
5. Read the recap. After a class you can read what was covered, what was not and what comes next, and the next class is planned from it.

The ready-made programs are laid out side by side, with their hours and what a pass costs, on the Programs page.

## What to look for in any online tutor

- A plan, not just answers. Does each session build on the last, or start from nothing?
- Feedback on what you wrote. Real tutoring reads your work and says what is missing.
- Fit with your exam. Ask whether the tutor knows your syllabus and your exam board's question styles.
- A record. You, or a parent, should be able to see what was covered.
- A price you can sustain. Regular practice beats an occasional expensive session, so check what a month of classes costs.

## What online tutoring costs on Tutix

You can start on the Free plan: 45 live class minutes a month (about one class of the default length), no card needed. Pro is $15 a month for 6 hours of live class time, and Pro+ is $30 for 15 hours.

| Plan | Price | Live class time a month | Works out to | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | 45 min | about one class | No card needed |
| Pro | $15 a month | 360 min (6 hours) | $2.50 an hour | $150 a year if paid yearly |
| Pro+ | $30 a month | 900 min (15 hours) | $2 an hour | $300 a year if paid yearly |
| Pico | No monthly fee | Pay as you go | $3 an hour ($0.05 a minute) | Paid from a wallet you top up |

The hourly figure is the plan's price divided by the live class hours it includes, when you use them all. Live class time is the tutor teaching you; other limits (study items, messages, uploads) are on the pricing page.

## Questions

**How does online tutoring work?**

You join a live session on a computer, usually with a microphone and a shared whiteboard. On Tutix the tutor is an AI that speaks, teaches on the whiteboard, reads what you write and remembers what each class covered.

**Is online tutoring as good as in-person tutoring?**

For most school subjects the teaching itself can be as good online, because the work is on a shared screen either way. What differs is the relationship: an in-person tutor can sit beside a student and notice more. Pick the format you will actually use regularly.

**How much does online tutoring cost?**

It varies widely. Marketplace and agency tutors set their own hourly prices. On Tutix, live class time works out to about $2.50 an hour on Pro and $2 an hour on Pro+ when all included minutes are used, and the Free plan includes 45 live minutes a month.

**Can I book a regular weekly time?**

Yes. You can book a fixed weekly time, set each week fresh, or have no schedule and start a class whenever you like.

**What equipment do I need?**

A computer or tablet with a current browser and a microphone. Nothing to install, and nobody is on camera.

**Can a parent follow the classes?**

Yes. A parent can invite a child by email; the child verifies their own account, so nobody shares a login. Parents get a recap after each class and a weekly update.
