**The short answer.** Tutix does not have ready-made A Level programs yet, but you can start an A Level class today: name the subject, add your syllabus or notes, and the AI tutor builds live classes around them. Ready-made A Level programs are planned. This page explains how the Cambridge A Level works so you can plan.

- A Level classes are built from your syllabus or notes; ready-made programs are planned
- AS is the first half of an A Level; A Level grades are A* to E
- Exams in June and November
- Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Computer Science planned

## How the Cambridge A Level works

Cambridge International AS & A Level is a set of single-subject qualifications for students aged about 16 to 19. The AS Level is the first half of an A Level and can be taken on its own. Most subjects can be taken three ways: AS only; an A Level staged over two years (AS in the first year, the A Level papers in the second); or an A Level with every paper in the same series.

AS candidates are eligible for grades a to e (in lower case), and A Level candidates for A* to E. Cambridge's syllabus cites a benchmarking study that found it comparable to UK AS and A Levels, accepted grade for grade by leading universities. Exams are in June and November, with a March series for centres in India. Other boards run their own A Levels with different papers, so check yours.

## The papers, subject by subject

| Subject (code) | Papers | Practical-type paper? |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Mathematics (9709) | Pure Mathematics 1, 2, 3; Mechanics; Probability & Statistics 1 and 2 | No |
| Further Mathematics (9231) | Further Pure Mathematics 1 and 2; Further Mechanics; Further Probability & Statistics | No |
| Physics (9702) | Multiple choice; AS structured; Advanced Practical Skills; A Level structured; Planning, Analysis and Evaluation | Yes: Papers 3 and 5 |
| Chemistry (9701) | As Physics | Yes: Papers 3 and 5 |
| Biology (9700) | As Physics | Yes: Papers 3 and 5 |
| Economics (9708) | AS multiple choice; AS data response and essays; A Level multiple choice; A Level data response and essays | No |
| Computer Science (9618) | Theory Fundamentals; Problem-solving and Programming; Advanced Theory; Practical | Yes: Paper 4 |

Each subject is on its own page, with its papers, timings and weightings: A Level Mathematics, A Level Further Mathematics, A Level Physics, A Level Chemistry, A Level Biology, A Level Economics and A Level Computer Science.

## How to prepare with Tutix today

1. Start a class and name the subject. Type the subject, for example A Level Mathematics or A Level Physics. The wizard suggests what the classes should cover, and you can edit it.
2. Attach your syllabus or your own notes if you have them, so the tutor teaches the topics your course actually lists.
3. Choose a tutor and a rhythm. Seven tutor personalities; a fixed weekly time, week by week, or start whenever you like.
4. Join the class. You talk, the tutor teaches on a shared whiteboard and slides, and reads what you write while you are still in class.
5. Read the recap. After each class you see what was covered and what is next, and the next class starts from there.

A class, opened. A sample written to show how a class sounds (not a real learner); the scores show how the exam would credit each answer.

> **Pure Mathematics 1 · Differentiation.** Question: Find the gradient of the curve y = 3x^2 − 4x at the point where x = 2.
> The student wrote: 3(2)^2 − 4(2) = 4 (the exam would credit 0 of 3)
> The tutor: 4 is the height of the curve at x = 2, not its gradient. The gradient is the value of the derivative there. Differentiate first, then substitute.
> The student then wrote: dy/dx = 6x − 4, so at x = 2 the gradient is 8. (the exam would credit 3 of 3)

> **What the tutor will not do.** It is built to explain and give feedback, not to write your coursework, practical write-ups or any work you hand in as your own. It helps you understand the topic and what a strong answer needs, so the work is yours.

Ready-made programs exist today for AP and IGCSE, drawn side by side on the Programs page; for A Level, the tutor builds the classes from your own syllabus or notes.

## What it costs

You can start on the Free plan: 45 live class minutes a month (about one class of the default length), no card needed. Pro is $15 a month for 6 hours of live class time, and Pro+ is $30 for 15 hours.

| Plan | Price | Live class time a month | Works out to | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Free | $0 | 45 min | about one class | No card needed |
| Pro | $15 a month | 360 min (6 hours) | $2.50 an hour | $150 a year if paid yearly |
| Pro+ | $30 a month | 900 min (15 hours) | $2 an hour | $300 a year if paid yearly |
| Pico | No monthly fee | Pay as you go | $3 an hour ($0.05 a minute) | Paid from a wallet you top up |

The hourly figure is the plan's price divided by the live class hours it includes, when you use them all. Live class time is the tutor teaching you; other limits (study items, messages, uploads) are on the pricing page.

## Questions

**Does Tutix have an A Level program?**

Not ready-made yet; they are planned. Today you can start a class in any A Level subject: name it, attach your syllabus or notes, and the tutor builds the classes around them.

**What is the difference between AS Level and A Level?**

AS Level is the first half of an A Level and can be taken alone. In Cambridge's scheme AS candidates are eligible for grades a to e (in lower case) and A Level candidates for A* to E.

**When are Cambridge A Level exams?**

In the June and November series, and in March for centres in India (not for Further Mathematics or Computer Science).

**Can I use a calculator in A Level Mathematics?**

Cambridge's syllabus expects a scientific calculator in all exams and does not permit graphical or symbolic-algebra calculators.

**Is Tutix affiliated with Cambridge?**

No. Cambridge International AS & A Level is a trademark of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, Tutix.
