**The short answer.** An AI tutor is one of several ways to get help: a private tutor, a tutoring center, a tutor marketplace, a general chatbot or a study app. These pages compare them on cost, quality, availability and fit, and say plainly when another option is the better choice.

## All comparisons

No option wins everywhere. Each page says what it is best at and where it falls short.

- [AI tutor vs human tutor](/compare/ai-tutor-vs-human-tutor): Cost, availability, quality, memory and fit, side by side
- [AI tutor vs tutoring center](/compare/ai-tutor-vs-tutoring-center): A center's routine against one-to-one classes at any hour
- [AI tutor vs chatbot](/compare/ai-tutor-vs-homework-chatbot): Answers on demand against a plan, feedback and a memory
- [AI tutor vs tutor marketplace](/compare/ai-tutor-vs-tutoring-marketplace): Choosing among many tutors against one steady teacher
- [AI tutor vs study apps and videos](/compare/ai-tutor-vs-study-apps-and-videos): Videos introduce, cards recall, a tutor practices and corrects

## Which page to read first

| If you are thinking about | Read |
| --- | --- |
| Paying a private tutor by the hour | AI tutor vs human tutor |
| Enrolling at a tutoring center | AI tutor vs tutoring center |
| Using a general chatbot for homework | AI tutor vs chatbot |
| Hiring someone through a tutor marketplace | AI tutor vs tutor marketplace |
| Studying from videos and flashcard apps | AI tutor vs study apps and videos |

Every page puts the other option's strengths first where it has them, sources any figure from outside Tutix, and ends with how people combine the two. The prices of human tutors are in what a private tutor costs, and the evidence on AI tutoring is in does AI tutoring work?.

## Five questions to ask of any option

- What does an hour of real teaching cost once fees, minimums and travel are counted?
- Who or what is teaching you, and how is that checked?
- What happens between sessions: does anyone remember what was covered last time?
- What do you receive after each session, and who else can see it?
- How do you stop, and what does stopping cost?

The answers matter more than the label. A human tutor, a center, a marketplace, a chatbot and an AI tutor can each be the right choice for a different child or a different month.

## Questions

**Does Tutix compare itself with named companies?**

No. These pages compare kinds of help, such as a private tutor or a chatbot, not companies.

**Is an AI tutor better than a human tutor?**

Neither is better for everyone: an AI tutor is stronger on availability, patience and cost, a person on judgement and mentoring. Many families use both.
